About EFCC

Evangelical Free Church of Chico (EFCC) exists to help people find and follow Jesus. Our mission, rooted in Scripture, drives every initiative we undertake in an effort to help one person, one family, and one community at a time. We love building an authentic, fun, and friendly multi-generational community where believers people experience biblically relevant teaching, life-giving God honoring worship, joyful generosity, and dynamic discipleship multiplication. Our ministry is rooted in the power of the Spirit to transform lives as we win the lost, build the believer, equip the worker and multiply disciple makers. With a focus on nurturing a genuine connection and empowering each individual for service, we invite you to join us in sharing the hope of Christ with our city and the world."

Our Mission

“EFCC exists to Help People Find and Follow Jesus, by the power of the Spirit,as we love God, love people and make disciples for His glory!”

(Matt. 22:37-40; Matt. 28:18-20; Gen 1:27; Ps 115:1; Eph. 3:20-21)

Our Values

Authentic Community

We are a fun and friendly multigenerational community of people that are strengthened by caring deeply for one another.

Biblically Relevant Teaching:

We are rooted in the Bible because it anchors our lives in the Gospel and leads us to fullness of life as fully devoted followers of Christ.

God Honoring Worship:

We are dependent on God through prayer and our worship is a life-giving response to Him that leads to a life of thriving through Christ.

Joyful Generosity:

We are striving to steward our time, service, resources, and relationships with generosity because of God’s generosity toward us.

Discipleship Multiplication:

We are endeavoring to be fully developing disciples of Jesus helping others fully follow Jesus.

We believe that all of creation was made good by God, full of life, beauty, and purpose — yet through humanity’s disobedience, the world was fractured. Now, creation lives in the tension between broken and beautiful: the wonder of a sunrise alongside the ache of loneliness, the laughter of friends shadowed by the pain of loss. The wounded goodness of the world is all around us, whispering both of what was lost and what could yet be restored.

What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the Cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

The Human Condition

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

The Work of Christ

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and, thus, become children of God.

Ordanances

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

The Church

We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head.

Membership

We believe that only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.

Governance

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decided and govern its own affairs.

Christ's Return

We believe in the personal and premillennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

Eternity

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgement and everlasting conscious punishment.
